Day 1 of Digital Media

ART 201: Digital Media Day 1

Today was the first day of class and it was very exciting to start knowing I'll be learning new and useful skills and tools. I enjoyed being able to see Professor Echeverry's work, and I found it fascinating that art can be made with an Xbox Kinect camera, it's just something I never could imagine even possible. I'm excited to be exposed to possibilities like the Kinect camera, and how things can be made into art, and the technological science behind it.

My name is Alicia Afonso and I am a freshman at The University of Tampa. I am an Advertising and Public Relations major, but I do have an interest in possibly getting involved with film, maybe as a minor. I love watching movies and TV shows, painting, singing, and playing the guitar. I also love animals, my summer job was working at a dog day care and boarding facility where I got to care for dogs all day long. I grew up in Connecticut with my mom, but spent part of my time with my dad in New York and getting to experience a small New England town and a mini city as home was a great childhood for me.

I'm looking forward to gaining digital skills that I can use in the future if I do decide to pursue film, and also being able to utilize and have fun with my creative side all while learning. I expect this class to be a challenge, but I am ready to embrace every obstacle and have fun learning and creating with a media of art I have not yet gotten to create within.

Black and White To Color Project

In Adobe Ilustrator, I chose a picture from my high school graduation and made it black and white. Then, I used the paint tool and started to color on myself. I zoomed in a lot to make sure I could color in the details in order for it to look realistic. I darkened my cap and robe to keep a color theme going, and added black lipstick with black ‘paint’. I then added a nose piercing and eyebrow piercing to top off the punk look. I made the background purple because I, again, wanted to maintain a color theme. I had a lot of fun with this project.

Business Card Final

Here are my *updated* and completed 5 business cards depicting: -Animal Lover -Compassionate -Curious -Creative -Adventurous I enjoyed created all of these but probably like animal lover best because it was fun to create the dog and cat. I t took me a while to finalize what I wanted to choose for my final logos. I played with them a lot, and decided I wanted them to be coherent with each other through their design and style. I really loved how they came out, simple but matching. I was able to use faces and eyes mutiple times which was nice. Making them colorful and pretty also took a long time but it was work it. I used Adobe Illustartor for this project.
